One example it this movie showed different lifestyles of two differnt people. And it was up to them to choose what path they would go on in life. The main character Rocket choose the up road in his life. He choose to use his gifts to help him succeed and get out of Rio's slums. But on the other hand the corrupted antagonist of the story named Lil Ze choose the back road. He choose villianous and diabolical ways to try to endeavor and slither his way to rule the slums of Rio. In this movie the camera editiings were very cool there were tons of different lighting. For example in a lot of the scenes the lighting was bright. That mostly happened if Rocket was in the camera view. Another camera angle was the dutch shot when Rocket waas caught in the middle of the street between Lil Ze's army amd the cops. I was out sick and came back on Thursday. But when i woke up on Tuesday and seen septa union strike all over the news. Even though i was out sick i had to come back to school in this drama. It was hard for me to make-up all my work because i got home at 7pm. When i got home i had to take medicine and it made me go to sleep and i couldn't finish work. I fell behind and it took me a week to catch up. Then im a basketball manager and that was even more work. \nThe City of God is a very gruesome but interesting movie. Its the type of movie that the viewer can't take there eyes off of. Theres so much detail in the movie that Film class has taught me to notice and be focused on. Theres so many eyeline matches to show how a characters views something. My favorite one is when the bullet was fired and the camera showed an eyeline match of the bullets point of view ending in a mirror but looking like it was about to hit rocket. To me that shot was very creative. Theres also a cool cross cutting shot done towards the end of the movie when lil ze and his crew were arguing with a guy and benny was trying to stop the arguement. The cross cutting was done very fast to give the viewer a since of tension and that the moment was getting very hectic. This landed Benny dead so it was kinda foreshadowing that something bad was about to happen. The advice letters to the characters was a good way of getting us to realize that the characters in Slumdog Millionaire and City of God were alike. Rocket, Benny, and Jamal are alike because they all wanted to get out of the slums. Benny died before he had the chance to but, Rocket found his way out through photography and Jamal found his way out by winning Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Staying in a gang, you were more than likely to get killed. Lil' Ze killed the gang before him and took over City of God. Just like he did, when he killed everyone in the gang before him, he ended up getting killed by kids who wanted exactly what he wanted when he was younger. Money, power, and respect. They killed him so they could take over City of God just like he did. It's a chain reaction. A group of kids kill whoever is the current gang and they take over. When a new group of kids see the kind of power the gang has as they get older, they will kill them and take over. It does seem like kids are the ones who kill of the ones before them so they can make it to the top. I agree with you on the part where yu you said this will continue to happen like history repeating itself and the only way out is to ind a true dream and foloow it.
